Short video description
Christian rock bands have more opportunities for record deals and touring thanks to a growing music business launched by the industry veteran and unlikely CEO Joseph Rojas. In April Rojas unveiled the Nashville Label Group, which is composed of two Christian music imprints — RockFest Records, which focuses on rock music, and Burtonwood Records, which features pop artists. The new label venture comes three years after Rojas created the successful Christian rock tour called City RockFest, which books about a half-dozen bands on more than 30 dates each year. Rojas' burgeoning Christian music business is all the more impressive considering his twisted path to success. Rojas estimates he was arrested over 20 times as a teenager and young man.

A pastor's son and high school athlete, Matthew West didn't even pick up a guitar until after his high school graduation. His talent first earned him recognition from the National Association of Campus Activities followed by a songwriting contract by Word Publishing. An accident a few years later that severed an artery in his arm had doctors doubting that he would ever play guitar again, but God had other plans and it wasn't long before Matthew was signed as the first Christian artist to the Universal South record label.
