But the former Top Gear presenter last month surprised fans and thwarted the local 'red trouser' brigade - villagers he claims have tried to block efforts to improve his farm - when he announced his restaurant was open for business. The outspoken television star has previously blasted locals who 'wear red trousers' for objecting the lofty development plans for his successful Diddly Squat enterprise.
