Nyu hook up
With litigation pending, NYU has been keeping mum regarding the death of student John Hunt Lamensdorf, who died on set last May while helping with another student's film project. The university has also been urging others not to talk about the incident publicly, but now the Village Voice has a lengthy account of what happened on the Georgia set, directly from someone who was there: Jason Welin. He described the events, noting that Lamensdorf was setting up a 1, watt light on the other side of the dilapidated house they were filming at when Welin made contact with the wires above the lift, causing Lamensdorf's electrocution; "he was bleeding from his nose and mouth" when his friend Andres Cardona started CPR, and ultimately he died. Welin's response? I already feel bad enough that people are saying I have blood on my hands, and now to be sued? It really makes you feel like a piece of shit.

Casual Sex and Hookups Are Good for You, NYU and Cornell Study Says | Time
The new movie Vengeance is very intelligent, it goes in unexpected directions, and it sticks with you. The problem is that it strains credulity in a weird way. He and his friend played by the singer John Mayer, well-known for being a cad open the movie discussing their method of taking the names of hook-up-ready women and putting them in their phones in depersonalized code so they can remember who the women are. They do nothing but agree with each other.

New York University's core campus area near Washington Square Park stayed warm and lit while much of the rest of lower Manhattan was blacked-out during Hurricane Sandy. It has a cogeneration network, which burns natural gas in a unit that both makes electricity and delivers heat, reports Matthew L. Wald at The New York Times. The cogen system doesn't cover the entire campus — just NYU's larger buildings at the core of the campus near Washington Square. It had to isolate itself from Con Edison's network, effectively putting the campus' power grid on an island.

A recent study conducted by researchers from NYU and Cornell dispels the popular notion that casual hookups — defined as sexual activity outside the context of a romantic relationship — will leave you with low self-esteem and depression. The research, published in the journal Social Psychology and Personality Science , involved a group of NYU students who kept a weekly diary over the course of 12 weeks documenting any and all adult snuggles — and the effect those instances had on their overall well-being. Sociosexually unrestricted students reported higher well-being after having casual sex compared to not having sex, the researchers found. Also, those who were sociosexually unrestricted reported lower stress and greater overall emotional health after casual sex.
